Small and Mighty

Small and Mighty

I found myself contemplating small things. There are verses and stories in the Bible such as considering the ants, the lilies and the grass of the field. Theres much encouragements available such as not despising the days of small things.

These are all very close to my heart, largely because I know that within myself I am not capable of doing very great things. And so the little things that I can do, I continue to pray that I am able to do them well, faithfully and in love.

The lyres are generally very small instruments, especially when I compare them to my piano or my harp. But just because a thing is small it doesn't mean that it cannot produce the same beautiful advantage that larger more prominent instruments would.

Yes, there will be remarked differences in sound, tones and overall quality, but the joy that it brings, personal satisfaction, peace, gratefulness, music, health small instruments bring is not less than the other. We are able to find fulfillment in both.

It is also good to consider that everyone's life journey starts with the first little steps. It is the same in music. We start small. We learn the basic first. We may have different instruments based on our choice, wants and means. We may all be at different points in our journey. Some are just beginning, some in the middle and some are very far ahead. No matter where we are, learning to appreciate our beginnings helps us to appreciate better and relate to others in an in enriched positive manner. It also reminds us why we are here. Why we are continuing.

Learning the lyre has taken me to a path I never expected or thought of. But yet here I am sharing and offering what I know to a great many people that I have never met and likely will never meet. Spending so many hours of my time and resources for something that started out so small and is grown to be a passion.

I have been asked many times why am I spending so much time and resources on learning the lyre harp... and the only thing I could think of is that I know it is doing some little good somewhere and that makes it all sooo worthwhile.

Please remember that just because something is small doesn’t mean it is less, after all even the biggest things are made up of tiny parts that without them would simply not look or function the same way. It is the same for little kindnesses that we can say and do for others. Who knows if that little thing we do might just be what others need to brighten or even make another's day complete.

The quiet soothing notes we play could be just what our souls and those around us needs. Keep on keeping on... one day at a time, step by step, note by note. One day we will look back and be surprised by how far we have come and just how much we have done and didn't even realize because those little steps consistently taken seemed so light and insignificant.
